Because the program is immersive and rigorous, we are looking for individuals who are willing to commit.
As a reminder, attendance at all four sessions is mandatory. Other requirements can be found on the program details page.
Dates for the 2027 class:
- Session 1: North Georgia | April 20-23, 2027
- Session 2: Metro Atlanta | July 27-30, 2027
- Session 3: Southwest Georgia | September 21-24, 2027
- Session 4: Coastal Georgia | November 9-12, 2027

The application is designed to help determine who is the best fit for our next class of IGELians, and by applying you agree that you understand the goals of IGEL:
1.
Fostering a deeper understanding of Georgia’s environmental issues
2.
Providing a candid, empathetic, confidential forum for participants to explore each other’s views and motivations
3.
Engaging participants in key aspects of leadership, including creative problem-solving, conflict resolution, trust building, and enhanced communication skills
Please note that applications are only accepted from July – September of every year.
As you apply, you’re encouraged to keep the IGEL Cancellation and Commitment Policy in mind.
Up to two letters of recommendation are welcome, but not required, and will be accepted up until the application deadline of September 13. Recommendations received after the due date will not be considered. Letters can be emailed to or mailed directly to IGEL, Inc., P.O. Box 18652 Atlanta, Georgia 31126.
If you completed an IGEL application last year and would like to be considered for the upcoming class, we ask that you complete a new application as additional information may be requested. If you would like a copy of your previous application, please email with your current contact information, and we will be happy to forward it to you.
